The Bloomsbury Mezcaleria

The Bloomsbury Club Bar is delighted to be celebrating the launch of London Mezcal Week this September by adding 30 varieties of Mezcal, one of the largest collection in Europe, to their extensive drinks list. The bar will transform into a rustic Mexican Mezcaleria, lavished in agave greenery, from 11th-24th September 2017.

Mezcal is a traditional Mexican liquor; made by cooking the heart of the agave plant, the ‘piña’, and ageing the resulting extract for up to 12 years. The agave was one of the most sacred plants in pre-Spanish Mexico, with a privileged position in religious rituals and mythology, thus Mezcal was initially named ‘the elixir of the gods’. Made from over 30 different agave species and varietals, and hand-crafted by small-scale, generations-old family businesses, Mezcal is a celebrated artisanal beverage.

The Bloomsbury Club Bar are delighted to have been working with Eduardo Gomez - founder and director of London’s Tequila & Mezcal Festivals - and will be offering 30 varieties of Mezcal to be enjoyed with a zesty slice of citrus fruit and salt.
